Schools in Stafford have been awarded funding as part of the Conservative government’s £450 million investment to improve school buildings across the country.
Theo Clarke MP welcomed this exciting announcement that funding will support:
- St Peter's CofE Primary School
- The Weston Road Academy
One of Theo Clarke's top five pledges for Stafford is fairer funding for schools in the constituency. Theo said "This continues to be a top priority for me, and I will keep standing up for schools in Stafford.”
This £450 million investment will specifically benefit 859 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools to improve their school buildings. The funding will ensure that pupils can learn in safe, warm and energy efficient classrooms. In addition, over 1,000 school building improvement projects will receive approval today as part of plans to boost the condition of school grounds. This follows on from 239 new school and sixth form buildings announced in December 2022.
Since 2015, The Department for Education has allocated over £15 billion to support the government’s priority for schools to have safe, well-maintained facilities that support a high-quality education for pupils.
