Theo Clarke MP for Stafford hosted an event with Women’s Aid to highlight the importance of specialist mental health support for victims of domestic abuse. Ms Clarke was pleased to be joined by Staffordshire colleagues including Kate Griffiths MP and Cllr Jeremy Pert to discuss this matter and meet with survivors of domestic abuse. Ms Clarke spoke with fellow Parliamentarians about her recent visit to the local refuge in Stafford with Staffordshire Women’s Aid and urged other MPs to work with her to tackle domestic abuse.
Theo Clarke MP is working with Women’s Aid on the Deserve to Be Heard campaign, which aims to highlight the impact of domestic abuse on the mental health of women and their children. Women’s Aid research shows almost half of women in refuge reported feeling depressed or having suicidal thoughts as a direct result of the domestic abuse that they experienced.
