Theo Clarke MP for Stafford made the case to the Chancellor, the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, and the Education Secretary, the Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, that Staffordshire is the ideal location to provide more upskilling opportunities. Ms Clarke is therefore pleased that Stafford College will now become a prestigious Institute of Technology and Stafford College is also set to receive over £12.7 million in Government funding to help train Staffordshire residents for highly skilled jobs.
Institutes of Technology specialise in delivering higher technical education across England and are part of the Government’s plans to reform technical training, to help employers get the skilled workforce they need and offer local people access to rewarding jobs. There are currently 12 Institutes of Technology across the country. Stafford College is one of only nine further Institutes of Technology to be established in 2022/23, helping people in Staffordshire get skills locally to work in higher quality jobs.
