Theo Clarke MP hosted a roundtable to bring together the relevant agencies in Stafford responsible for tackling flooding, including the Environment Agency, Staffordshire County Council, Highways England and Severn Trent. Theo Clarke, MP for Stafford, pushed for a more joined up approach to tackle flooding, such as a local Flood Control Centre, as well as, discussing solutions for long term problem areas like Sandon Road, Tixall and Silkmore Lane.
Ms Clarke said that tackling flooding in Stafford remains one of her top priorities. The roundtable discussion will help to ensure that planning takes place well ahead of winter and that relevant steps are taken to mitigate the risk of flooding to people’s homes, businesses and local roads.
Theo Clarke MP was pleased that the Government announced an additional £170 million of new funding for flood defence projects around the country. Ms Clarke will continue to lobby Rebecca Pow MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, for the resources that Stafford needs locally.
