I’m delighted to announce that following my campaign on birth trauma, I will be leading the UK Parliament’s first ever debate in our history on this topic. It will take place next week on Thursday 19th October in the House of Commons.
I will be asking the Government to add birth trauma to the Women’s Health Strategy. I will also be sharing my personal story of birth trauma and the work of the new All Party Parliamentary Group for Birth Trauma which I chair with Labour MP Rosie Duffield. I have been humbled by the response to our cross-party national campaign.
This is a huge opportunity to improve the after care for mums across the UK. The debate will also coincide with Baby Loss Awareness Week. The debate was announced by Leader of the Commons Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP.
Thank you to so many mums for bravely writing to me and sharing their stories and for support from Birth Trauma Association - UK The MASIC Foundation and inspiring campaigner Stoma Chameleon.
The debate will be broadcast live on TV 📺 #birthtrauma.
