Theo Clarke MP is delighted that over £1.8 million has been provided by the government to make it easier to walk and cycle in Staffordshire as well as maintaining the access other road users need.
This is part of the announcement by the Government of £175m of funding for high-quality cycling and walking infrastructure across England, which will make local journeys safer for everyone . The funding is being allocated alongside strict plans set out by the Transport Secretary, The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP, to ensure councils consult local communities before rolling out schemes in their area.
In the West Midlands, more than 67% of adults walk or cycle once a week, while over 31% walk or cycle 5 times a week.
