"I am here today at the War Memorial, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day and I know today is not the commemoration that we were all expecting in light of the current challenging circumstances, but I do think it’s a good opportunity for us to reflect and to thank everyone in our Armed Forces for all that they do. If I could say my personal thanks to the Beacon Barracks and MOD Stafford For all the work that service men and women are doing to keep us safe and to really pay tribute to our armed forces on this historic day."
