Theo Clarke MP for Stafford was delighted to host a panel for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Fruit, Vegetables and Horticulture which she Co-Chairs. The panel discussed a number of topical farming matters including picking and packing in the horticulture sector and the need to have sufficient seasonal workers to back British farming.
Ms Clarke thanked the panelist of growers which included:
- Claire Thornton at Dearnsdale Fruit, a family run company that produces soft fruit and is based in Staffordshire.
- Julian Marks at Barfoots of Botley Limited, a company which grows, processes and packs a range of fresh vegetables in West Sussex.
- Simon Gardner at Varfell Farms Ltd, a grower, distributor and packer of daffodil flowers and bulbs based in Cornwall.
