Since being elected Theo Clarke MP for Stafford has campaigned tirelessly for improved infrastructure across Staffordshire both locally and in Parliament. Ms Clarke was therefore delighted to take part in the opening of Stafford’s Western Access Route. Ms Clarke welcomes that this new route will ease congestion for local Staffordshire residents, as well as providing safer access through enhanced cyclist and pedestrian routes. Ms Clarke thanked Stafford County Council, Stafford Borough Council, the Local Enterprise Partnership and everyone involved in the construction for all their hard work.
Construction of the £63 million project has now opened to vehicles. The project has included the restoration of a former car park into marshland wildlife habitat, planting of 2,360 trees, installation of bat boxes and mammal crossings. The project also contains flood compensation works and the creation of 2.2km of cycling routes.
