Theo Clarke MP for Stafford was delighted to officially open the Stafford Greengate Jobcentre Plus. Ms Clarke held a meeting with Jobcentre management and thanked them for all that they are doing to support people in Staffordshire. Ms Clarke spoke with the team at the Jobcentre about specific Universal Credit cases that constituents’ have raised with her. Ms Clarke also updated the team on her ongoing work both locally and in Parliament to increase employment opportunities for Staffordshire residents.
During her visit, Ms Clarke discussed encouraging local businesses to join the Department for Work and Pension’s Kickstart Scheme and hire more apprentices. As part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs, the Government launched the Kickstart Scheme to help young people develop new skills, build confidence and get a crucial first foot on the career ladder. Ms Clarke welcomes that through the landmark Kickstart Scheme over 100,000 young people across the country have now started jobs.
