Dear Resident,
You will no doubt we aware of the continued use of hotels to house asylum seekers in Staffordshire and across the country.
As your local Member of Parliament, I have been clear with the Home Office that these arrangements are unacceptable and must end as soon as possible. I am particularly concerned that the use of the hotels and student accomodation are undermining the crucial role that they play in supporting Staffordshire’s tourism industry, and I am working tirelessly at home and in Westminster to ensure that our hotels return to this vital use at the earliest opportunity.
While I do welcome measures the Government have taken to deter illegal migration into the country, I remain concerned by the lack of clarity offered on how long the hotel arrangements will last.
Therefore, alongside Sir Gavin Williamson MP have decided to launch this survey in order to demonstrate the local concern around the use of hotels. I encourage you all you add you name and share your thoughts with us so that this can be shared with the Government.
The petition can be found on this webpage and can be sent to Sir Gavin's constituency office for free.
